With over 150 days on the lake each year and over 25 years experience, we know how to catch fish out here. Home of the World Famous Gerrard Rainbow Trout, Kootenay Lake is a popular destination for fishermen from everywhere.
Favorite techniques of bucktails on the surface provide some high flying action for trophy sized Rainbows. Imagine sitting back and relaxing while you wait for that magic sound. The reel starts screaming and the fish takes to the air. Not uncommon to have 300 ft of line peeled off your reel and numerous jumps to add to the excitement. That is the battle of the Giant Gerrard Rainbow.
We also run downriggers to get us down to the depths when the fish aren’t feeding on top. Bull Trout are also common to this area and are considered mighty fine for the BBQ.Rainbows up to 35 Lbs and Bull Trout up to 29 Lbs have been pulled out of this lake. So, sit back and relax in our heated boats, and enjoy the fishing.

A day on Kootenay Lake
The day usually starts with everyone meeting at the boat. Since we supply all the gear needed, all you would need to show up with is your fishing license and your lunch & drinks. Click here to purchase your fishing licenses online.
Your guide will give a brief instructional on procedures and you will be on your way. Whether its on the lake, the ocean, or the river, we will take you to some of the best fishing spots available. So, sit back and relax, and we’ll look after the rest.
After an exciting day of fishing, we will clean your catch and bag them for transport.

Our Boats & Equipment on the Lake
22ft Hewescraft Boats
You’ll be quite comfortable in our 22ft Hewescraft boats on the lakes. Our fleet consists of 3 fully enclosed, heated cabin boats for all weather fishing. We use top of the line fishing gear for our charters. From the latest technology in electronics, downriggers, and planer boards, to the finest rods, reels, and fishing lines.
Rods & Reels
For our Kootenay Lake charters we use 9ft rods with shimano levelwind reels and Berkley Big Game fishing line.

Our guides know these lakes like the back of their hand.

Fishing License Tag
If you are 16 years of age or older you must have a valid basic freshwater fishing licence to fish recreationally in non-tidal waters in B.C. Find out more about purchasing your freshwater fishing licence through the government of B.C.’s website.
