Kootenay Charters

Kootenay Lake:  (year round )2012_07150011

Rainbow Trout/Bull Trout/Kokanee

With over 150 days on the lake each year and over 20 years experience, we know how to catch fish out here.  Home of the World Famous Gerrard Rainbow Trout, which is the worlds largest wild Rainbow Trout,  Kootenay Lake is a popular destination for fishermen from everywhere.

Favorite techniques of bucktails on the surface provide some high flying action for trophy sized Rainbows.  Imagine sitting back and relaxing while you wait for that magic sound.  The reel starts screaming and the fish takes to the air.  Not uncommon to have 500 ft of line peeled off your reel and numerous jumps to add to the excitement.   That is the battle of the Giant Gerrard Rainbow.

We also run downriggers to get us down to the depths when the fish aren’t feeding on top.  Bull Trout are also common to this area and are considered mighty fine for the BBQ.

Rainbows up to 35 Lbs and Bull Trout up to 29 Lbs have been pulled out of this lake.

So, sit back and relax in our heated boats, and enjoy the fishing.  Hold on tight……….

Columbia River: ( March –  October)

Rainbow Trout/Walleye

The Mighty Columbia River offers some of the best fishing around.  Rated one of the best fly fishing rivers in North America, but surprisingly not as busy as you would expect.  I would say it’s the best kept secret around here.

Not only is the fly fishing amazing, but there is excellent opportunity for spin casting or drifting for both Rainbows and Walleye.  And miles of water to explore.

These fish have grown up in the current and are powerful swimmers.  So, pound for pound, you won’t find a more powerful fish.  Need plenty of backing for these fish, as they will scream down stream immediately upon being hooked.

Plenty of fish to be caught on the river.  Whether its fly fishing, spin casting, drift fishing, or trolling, we can cater to your needs.

Our guides know this river like the back of their hand.  So, give it a shot.  You won’t be disappointed.
